Dressé sur une éminence dominant l'Yvel, aux portes de la forêt de Brocéliande, le château du Bois de la Roche veille sur le Porhoët depuis la fin du XVe siècle. Ancienne forteresse devenue élégant corps de logis, il déploie ses tours, ses toitures d'ardoise et ses lucarnes au milieu d'un domaine de plus de cent hectares de bois, de prairies et d'eaux vives.
Set on a rise overlooking the river Yvel, at the edge of the legendary forest of Brocéliande, the château du Bois de la Roche has watched over the Porhoët since the late 15th century. A former fortress turned elegant manor, it raises its towers, slate roofs and dormers amid an estate of more than one hundred hectares of woodland, meadow and water.
Le corps de logis du XVe siècle, flanqué de ses deux tours cylindriques coiffées d'ardoise, ouvre treize fenêtres sur une cour d'honneur encadrée de deux escaliers en fer à cheval.
Tout autour, le parc déroule ses prairies, ses futaies anciennes et son grand étang, héritier des douves qui protégeaient jadis la forteresse — un paysage romantique propice à la promenade comme au repos.
The 15th-century main building, flanked by its two slate-capped cylindrical towers, opens thirteen windows onto a forecourt framed by twin horseshoe staircases.
All around, the park unfolds its meadows, ancient stands of trees and a great lake — heir to the moats that once protected the fortress — a romantic landscape made for walking and for rest.
